FishingKit.co.uk was created in January 2024, after a long time thinking that there needed to be a more affordable selling platform than the few that were previously available.
With ever increasing costs of living and price increases for fuel, shipping, materials costs etc etc, then it is becoming far more expensive to be an angler and a tackle trader these days !

A lot of research showed me that it was possible to compete with the likes of eBay and Amazon, and the ability to create an affordable selling platform wasn't just a dream.
It has long been known that these companies charge far too much in fees for sellers, and with parcel fees also becoming increasingly ridiculous, it was leaving it very difficult for fishing tackle and bait sellers to make a decent profit, and therefore getting rather expensive for anglers to buy online !

Some of the reasons for the high fees charged are that the likes of eBay and Amazon have thousands of staff to pay, huge offices around the world, IT experts, software development, equipment, insurances and many other expensive overheads.
Amongst other fees they charge sellers, eBay charge Final Value Fees, similar to that of a traditional auction house, without actually providing the same services of an auction house !
Auction houses will charge for auctioneer's and staff costs, photographing and cataloguing items, storage costs, insurances, buyer's and seller's premiums etc in order to offer a complete sales service on a seller's behalf.
Yet all that eBay and Amazon do is provide a digital online platform for you to advertise your items for sale, without much of the above work being done to help you !
It is the sellers who have to do most of the work involved in creating a listing for their items, taking photos, storing and packing their items etc, so why do they charge so much in fees when they are doing very little work on your behalf ?? 
It should also be noted that eBay intends to charge another fee to sellers from 8th April 2024, on top of all the other seller's fees, the 'Regulatory Operating Fee Surcharge', so it just gets worse !
